We will arrive 10ish in Amalfi, staying in Atrani. I thought we might be able to drop our luggage , wander Amalfi and take take a short hike. An earlier posting (5/22) mentioned that the hike to Pontone is closed due to landslide. Any suggestions for perhaps a 2 -3 hour hike, up and down?
I have also seen reports the Valle delle Ferriere is closed due to landslide. I believe we did one other round trip hike out of Amalfi. You could inquire at a tourist office or get one of the books that detail all of the hikes. Another option might be the path of the lemons to Minori/Maoiri, use ferry for one way.
Wander up the main drag in Amalfi and after most of the shops are behind you there will be a trail on your right which you can follow up to the Torre dello Ziro. Or you can hike from Atrani to Ravello.
So I have Gillian Price book on hand , there are just so many hikes! Could you just advise me on time. I do not understand if the time in the book is one way. Example Amalfi to Minori - 1.50 hours..one way?
Torro dello Zorro- 1.30 Hours -one way?
Atrani to Ravello - 2 hours - one way up?
Many thanks
Those sound like one way estimates.
Agreed. But it also depends on your fitness level of course.
You could walk up to stairs in the interior of Amalfi up to the town of Pogerola and have a panoramic drink at "cocktail bar" https://goo.gl/maps/8irM36hnZzz21tVd9 and either take the bus back down or walk back down.
