I booked a private shopping tour as a birthday present for my wife with Maren Erikson.

She is a Seattleite living part-time in Florence for more than 20 years and knows all of the best shops for high quality goods based on your specific style. It was one of our most memorable travel experiences by far. 12 years later, my wife still wears the shoes, jacket and handbags we bought.

While in Florence this past September, I purchased a beautiful belt at the leather school Rick mentions in his guidebook. I don’t have it handy to check. I’ll update when I can check. They had wallets, bags, jackets and coats also. A little hard to find but not impossible. Also, they fit the belts to size which was nice.

I also found some lovely stores near the Duomo Museum for small leather goods. They had some unique pieces, just check the windows. One item I purchased was a collapsible leather waste paper basket. Love it.

I’m sorry I can’t remember the names of the stores.

On my last two trips I bought some small leather items at Adam Leather Factory.
It’s a shop.
At Borgo degli Albizi 45/R in Florence.
The eyeglass case is one I’ve used every day for 3 years and it still looks brand new!
No peeling and no discolouration.
I went back last October and bought a few more things.
Years ago the leather bought in the San Lorenzo market used to be good, but now it’s second rate and rarely an Italian vendor in sight.

Ohhhhh the leather school. My husband took me there last November and I ordered a purse for my birthday. It was really fun to pick out the leather and the "hardware". Still waiting for it to arrive! Perhaps in March.....

Oh yes do check out the Leather School, Scuola del Cuoio. The entrance is from the garden behind Santa Croce.

I love La Pella, a small family-owned shop across the Arno. Great product and friendly staff. https://www.lapellesrl.it/en/
