Hello all. I have a son that is in Turin and will be coming back to USA after the semester is over. Has anyone used a shipping service to ship stuff back to USA? This will be bulky clothes and personal items. Nothing really big or complicated.
Here's a recent post to get you started.
hey hey MLB
different options mentioned. just do your homework which would be best for you & son. had a friend ship something from santorini several years ago, kept tracking and even calling (was either fedex or DHL). took 4 months to receive for whatever reasons she got it.
got an email today from fodors.com, of all days about shipping luggage. cheapest doesn't always mean best
fodors.com/ why i will never ship my luggage again
interesting info about one company, lugless.com. had friends ship to neighbor's house knowing they would be home to receive and keep it safe, instead of front porch and having "porch pirates" on the lookout.
how many bags will he have to ship? any thoughts of paying for extra baggage on airline to fly home? keep all documents, receipts, texts/emails for your piece of mind. hope all will work out for you guys.
aloha
What is the extra bag fee on the airline?
Saves the paperwork of Customs declarations that is associated with shipping. Perhaps not the absolute cheapest way, but the simplest.
My $0.02
When I returned from study abroad with things I want to ship via tracking, I also found that paying for an extra checked bag was cheaper than shipping a box. So compare that price, too.
Use the post office. I wrote more on your other thread.
