Yesterday while shopping at a really high quality Art's & Craft Show in NJ, I came across a beautiful table runner that I was told was made of Venetian "Burn-out" Brocade. Burn-out is the process by which the design is created by using a chemical burn process to etch the beautiful design into the fabric. It's a stunning piece, the fabric color is such a vibrant shade of gold(s) and the design is beautiful. I loved it immediately and once I was told where the fabric came from, I had to have it! The trim was French and that was very beautiful too. I am going to Venice on my next trip to Europe and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience visiting textile shops open to the general public and what they can tell me in terms of what they saw and if it's more or less expensive to buy them there (or at fine textile stores in the US)?
