SHOPPING ALERT: "bancarelle" in Rome

I saw stumbled across these links:

I am going CRAZY because shopping is my favorite hobby next to putting on lipgloss on overly crowded Roman buses (reference to previous post). Does anyone know about these? Do they tend to stay in one place or are they mobile stalls? Do they operate every day of the week? Is it really worth the hoopla?

When I was in Rome in May, there was a bancarelle on Via Cesare Balba between Via A. Depretis and Via Torino. Location is about halfway between the Opera House and Santa Maria Maggiore church. It was open both Friday and Saturday, but not certain whether it's open daily or whether it moves. There were lots of signs advertising inexpensive womens clothes, but I have no idea of the quality.

Monique, Some bancarelle are "fixed" but most rotate among locations throughout Rome. That way each neighborhood sees different goods each day. My wife often got off the metro at Ottaviano (rather than Cipro) so she could walk by the bancarelle on her way home. Many - like the ones at Ottaviano or in Trastevere - operate every day. You DO have to sift through the goods to find the best buys.
