My 20-something niece, a military wife, will be traveling with my husband, her husband and me in May 2009. One of her prime goals for this vacation is to get a pair of Italian shoes. We'll have an afternoon available in Rome on a Tuesday in May. Does anyone have any suggestions for moderately priced department/shoe stores? Vintage would be OK, too. Thanks!
Remember - Italian Shoe stores aren't like America - they do not have every shoe in every size. My husband and I spent an afternoon shoe shopping - my feet are too wide so I got nothing - he was able to pick up 2 pair.

MaryJane,
She might want to check the net for information on the European sizing. For example a size 10 in North America is (as I recall) a size 44 in Europe.
Cheers!
Shoe stores abound in Roma but you could check out Rinascente, the department store on Corso Italia. I wear a size 9 in the US but a 39 for european shoes. She'll have no problem finding something.
To Linda, Jo, Ken and Robin - Thank you all so much for the terrific info. I'm sure my niece will find something fabulous! Best - MaryJane
