Shirts and shoes

I'm taking an 3-week escorted tour of Italy in October.

The shirts that Rick Steves wears always look unwrinkled and versatile. Does anyone know what brands and/or fabric blends they are?

Also, what men's shoes are most comfortable when taking walking-tours and visiting churches, museums and art galleries?

My hubby swears by his Rockports, but shoes are subjective, you will have to hunt around till you find what is comfiest for your feet. I envy you, mens shoes are basically always comfy anyways.

Whatever shoe you decide on, make sure that you break them in before you go on the trip. I like New Balance walking shoes, but there are many brands and style. go to a good walking shoe place and try some on.

HEre's a website that has a lot of travel stuff to give you an idea of what's available.

This one does closeouts and overstocks, so lots of bargains.

Pat's right. People seem to have different results with different shoes. Lots of men swear by Rockport or Ecco, but I've tried them both and just wound up with aching feet. The only brand that works for me is Mephisto. As to Rick's shirts, I recall an episode of his TV series where he talks about what he packs. Think he mentioned the fabics that work well for him but no brands. Maybe you can find that episode or someone will remember and post.

I have luck with Ecco for shoes. Definitely break them in a good month before you go.

As for shirts, avoid solids (they show wrinkles) and go for poly-cotton blends in patterns. You'll be in luck in October with fairly mild weather.

For my hubby, Bjorn and Ecco are his most comfortable walking around shoes. He is one of those that even irons his t-shirts so I take some Downy Wrinkle Release along with us on trips and that seems to the trick most of the time. Folding carefully when packing also seems to help reduce the wrinkles from the start, we save dry cleaning bags and wrap things in those.
