Shipping things ahead

My wife and I will be traveling to Lucca with my mother-in-law and my 4 year old. We're flying into Rome, spending a night to recover in a hotel we're familiar with near the Termini, then taking a train to Pisa to pick-up a rental car. The thought of schlepping a booster-seat for my daughter all the way to Pisa isn't appealing. Is there a way to ship a booster to the Pisa train station and meet it there before I pick up the rental. The only car rental place I've come up with that offers boosters is Hertz, which is much more expensive than other companies.

Any ideas?

Hi Tom....I guess it depends where you live but in addition to FedEx another option might be DHL.

I'm wondering if it might not be just as reasonable to buy one in Italy when you get there and leave it there when you depart. This sometimes works. We visit Florida each winter. We used to rent bikes while down there. We eventurally figured out it was cheaper just to go to K-Mart, buy one and then donate it to charity when we departed.

Hi Tom-

What about Fed Ex'ing the booster seat directly to whichever car rental place you will be using? Or even shipping to the hotel you will be staying at in Rome so then all you have to do is travel with it to Pisa.

There are also 2 companies who now specialize in shipping luggage and big items ahead of time so you don't have all the hassle of carrying it and going through security at the airport; I read about both on cnn.com. Here are the links in case you want to check them out:

www.luggagefree.com

www.luggageforward.com

They will even pick items up at your door!

Good luck and happy travels!

Why not buy one there. The cost of shipping it will be more than the cost of the seat itself.

They have nearly everything we have. I am sure a child seat is available.
