Prices online show around 130 Eu for the boat, can be shared up to 4 people. Do these shuttles take credit cards or is it probably better to have cash? if cash, are there ATM's in Marco Polo Airport or should I get Euro's ahead of time? Not planning on reserving a boat, but heading to the dock and waiting for others...seem reasonable or risky?
The Vaporetto is easy, accessible, frequent, inexpensive and pleasant. Why not pick up a ticket from the counter at the airport and take the bus to the dock? It's super easy to do and you can do this with a credit card if you prefer.
hey hey Catmando
in your other post, others have mentioned no need to reserve before. walk down to boat dock and see what's available.
we have used them 4 times and reserved ahead of time with credit card, so t really don't know if they accept it at the dock.

click shuttles and their price says 35E, 2 people minimum

150E from airport to city center. it is cost of all on boat, maximum 10 people
it's your decision, if you have 4 people i would rent water taxi not shared, plus shared makes stops along the way for others. private takes you as close to your hotel as possible
i always buy euros here in states before flying (200E), ask for small bills, to cover me for incidentals until i get to an ATM. prefer not to get at airport my own thoughts. how many people will be doing same thing, how much money is in machine, is it an ATM or Travelex or euronet that charges big fees, not worth my headache and stress. may cost $20 or so here which is all worth it
good luck, enjoy and have a great time. have a gelato and a glass of prosecco.
aloha
You can book a shared or private water taxi at the airport when you arrive-with a card

It seems to me that finding someone with whom to share who is going in the same direction as you will take some time. As stated above, the vaporettos are frequent and much cheaper. Unless you are staying at a hotel that has it's own dock thereby eliminating the need to walk with luggage from a vaporetto stop to the hotel, I would not bother. (been there three times already)
Vaporettos do NOT service Marco Polo to Venice. That route is serviced by the Alilaguna ferries.
We have used the shared water taxi several times. Book in advance, go to the desk in the terminal and wait there for the other passengers. You will be told which water station your taxi is waiting at.
The way to the dock is well signed, you take an escalator to the first floor, then a moving footpath to the dock.

You do not need to find anyone to share a water taxi with-the booking desk takes care of that -you can book in advance but not necessary
Repeat! Vaporettos do not service the airport but are quite handy while you are in Venice
A length of stay pass is almost always a money saver as individual tickets are now 9.50 euros
Be sure to validate your pass/ticket each and every time you board-fines are high and they do check
