My friend and I are traveling to the Amalfi Coast at the end of May. We have been looking for a good boat tour of Capri. One that tours the island by boat (to and from the mainland), Blue Grotto, etc., and allows enough time to tour the island by foot or taxi. In another post here I found this shared tour site, https://www.sharedtours.com/. It has Rick Steves name on the site and seems like just what we would want. Is this legite? Any feedback or suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks you.
It is indeed a legitimate tour! No worries there.
We are doing the Capri tour with mondo in May
It is legit, it’s a Rick Steves recommended and actually designed
You can check your dates to see if tour is full or not. You sign up, give your cc then once tour has enough participants you get confirmation, pay in cash on day of
I specifically chose a day that had 6 sign ups already so I knew we would be confirmed.
Take a look at their calendar- pick a date- and you’ll see what I mean.
We are doing it on May 28, I think there are still a few spots open that day?
ALso doing their Pompeii tour on May 26
ETA: oops 5/28 is now full but 5/27 has a confirmed tour with spots available
No idea what your dates are ;;
We went on the Shared tour with Mondo to Pompeii in 2015, partnered with Rick Steves. No worries, it's legit and has been around for awhile. Mondo is a reputable tour company based in Naples.
You may already be aware of this, but if the water is too choppy, the Blue Grotto may be inaccessible that day. I got shut out when I visited for the day, but hadn't arranged a tour ahead of time. Just in case the Grotto isn't possible to visit, your boat tour should be able to still make the most of your visit.
Also be aware that the Blue Grotto is an additional cost. Personally, I'd skip it as it can eat a lot of time and is expensive for the few minutes inside the thing...if the seas cooperate enough for the rowboats to make it inside at all.
Thank you all for your help on this.
