Shared Rick Steves Tours with Mondo guide

I just came across information regarding shared tours with a partner ship between Rick Steves and Mondo Tours. It is an interesting cost cutting option. There are some stipulations which might introduce a slight level of risk including a minimum number of people to sign up for the tour to actually take place. It appears you also have to pay in cash. However, the cost is a fraction of what it would normally be. Any reviews I have seen have been pre-pandemic. Has anyone taken advantage of this option recently? Thank you in advance.

We took a Rick Steves/ MondoGuides tour to Pompeii several years ago. The guide wasn’t great but when I contacted Mondo to tell them of our experience we were impressed. They offered us credit for another tour. We considered their tour to the Amalfi Coast too and exchanged many emails with Mondo about that day trip and the vehicle used. We did not take that trip but again was impressed by their communication.

I had an excellent experience pre-pandemic with a Mondo tour of the Amalfi coast. I wouldn't hesitate to book with them again.

This is a point I often make, it's not the tour company it's the tour guide.

They are the ones who make or break the tour. In theory, the best company has the best guides, but we don't live in theory.
