Thanks for your replies...but my question was more specific...are there restaurants in Rome or in Sicily that cater to allergies. Once at restaurants when you explain the severity of the allergies are they ok with accommodations...is it something that they were comfortable with or it foreign to them I realize they use pine nuts, lots of almonds but here in Canada you will find brands that are safe like Chapmans, Enjoy Life......are there places that sell nut free, allergen free foods Once again,

Many waitstaff and chefs are familiar with most food allergies, but I don't know of any place that serves food that is free of all known allergens. Yes, most wait staff/chefs are comfortable with making suggestions that you can eat. Since you mention name brands, you can find allergen-specific information at pharmacies or larger supermarkets (I sometimes travel with friends who have gluten and dairy allergies, we never have problems in restaurants, but those two restrictions are pretty common).
