I am going to be in Sirmione on Lake Garda soon. I have seen some references to the tourist train from the castle to the end of the peninsula at the Roman Villa, but I can't find any information online. Has anyone who has visited recently know if the mini-train is still operating?
I can't find any info but, even if it isn't, it's a do-able walk.
Thanks for checking and your reply LinC.
hey hey alohalover
are you lover of aloha land or from land of aloha? :) (big island my home)
have you been to lake garda? how many days you staying, hoping a few or several. we went several years ago, drove from venice to bardolino for wine festival, spent night and back to venice for a greek island cruise. it was fabulous and fun, a gorgeous lake with lots to see and do. back then was a quiet place, most traveling to lake como, there were lots of germans/austrians but i see more people with lake garda on their itinerary.

festa dell'uva e del vino october 2-6 2025. annual wine festival for bardolino wine. stayed at hotel nettuno, parked car, dumped luggage and off we went to entrance. bought 15E necklace to hold wine glass, roamed all around, so much food to choose from, wine every where, music dancing, parade, stomping grapes, last night fireworks over lake, artisan crafts for sale. bring small denominations of euros.
just some info i saved from our trip, we also had a car, stopped in pescheira del garda for lunch in city center then drove back to venice. if you are renting a car at all it is mandatory to have a IDP (aaa.com/idp).
whatever you decide, have fun and enjoy the lake.
