Series A Soccer Teams Near Tuscany

Hello Fellow Travelers!

I'm staying in Tuscany the first week of September. Does anyone know where the closest Series A soccer team plays near Tuscany?

Thanks.

I think (and am open to correction), that only Fiorentina qualifys. Empoli were relegated this year, Siena went bankrupt, and now plays in Serie C.

Further afield, Bologna and Parma are still in Serie A and reachable from Florence.

Much appreciated! Thanks for the information. I'm an Arsenal fan but would love to see some Italian soccer.

Thanks again.

2019-2020 season Series A schedules will be published over the summer. Hopefully Fiorentina or one of the nearby teams will have a home match the week you're there. Also remember that a picture ID (e.g. passport or national identity card) is required to purchase tickets and to clear security at the stadium.

Sean,
You mention you are an Arsenal fan, but don't say whether you have seen much live soccer (your use of the word suggests North American).

I'm a UK based season ticket holder of a local club, but got to see several games in Italy. If this will be your first time there, avoid the hardcore areas of the stands, usually behind the goals, where various flavours of "Ultra" tend to congregate.

The behaviour can be quite shocking compared to the relatively sedate UK crowds (I'm not being ironic - I've spent 20+ years following the game in the UK, and can only really remember two incidences that would be considered major hooliganism during that time) and I've seen things at Italian games that would lead to an instant, life time ban for any UK fan.
I'm not suggesting you shouldn't go - It's a good spectacle - just pick your area when buying a ticket.

Fiorentina plays in Tuscany when at home (in Florence). It will be the only Tuscan team in Serie A.

North of Tuscany, Bologna, Sassuolo, and Parma, play in serie A. Sassuolo’s stadium Is actually in Reggio Emilia.

Thanks for all the great information. I've seen an Arsenal game (Champions League game against FC Basil at the Emirates) but I'm sure it's a little different. We'll take precautions and select some safe seats. I really appreciate the advice and knowledge.
