Will be visiting Venice and Murano for the first time in September. Aside from really wanting to see the city before any further flooding occurs, I'm most interested in glassmaking in Murano. Any tips on making the most of this visit? Is it possible to see glass artisans at work, preferably without the crowds and sales pressures?
Vittorio does amazing work,
In Venice, not Murano.
Thank you - very interesting work!
We bought some glass honeybees from Vittorio.
Broke a wing from one when we were back in Aus.
Took it back, Vittorio remembered us, repaired the bee free gratis.
We gave him a jar of our honey.
Small, intimate connections that you don’t ever forget. Venice is like that, sure, 20 million visitors, yet a small resident population, so intimate.
We really enjoyed the glass museum on Murano. We got there when it opened and it was not that crowded.
Thank you!
