September Sicily tour

We are 3 ladies in the planing stages of our upcoming tour and wondered if anyone has suggestions for pre and post tour sights. Should we plan on an extra night in Catania at the end? Is Cefalu out of Palermo worth a night? Thank you for any insights you might be able to offer.

We did this tour 4 years ago and several of our tour members took the train to Cefalu for a few days after the tour and had good things to say about it. I wanted to go back to Taormina for more time because I fell in love with the town, you will see what I mean when you get there. We actually flew from Catania to Milan and took the train to Varenna on Lake Como and spent 3 days just visiting the Villa's on the lake and chilling out.

Of all the RS tours we've taken the Sicily Tour was one of the best!!

We spent 2 nights and one full day in Cefalu and enjoyed our time there. We were there in the end of October so it was past the main tourist season. Weather was still nice and a few people were still swimming.

Can’t help you with Catania. We didn’t have time to go there.

We spent 4 days in Palermo before the tour, and found plenty to do. We enjoyed all the markets, the Norman Palace, Teatro Massimo, a day trip to Cefalu, several churches, the waterfront, a Streaty street food tour, and general walking around and eating. I thought one day in Catania was enough. I definitely think you might enjoy spending a few more days in Taormina or Siracusa after the tour. We loved both of them. We spent an additional week in Siracusa and visited the Baroque towns that were not included in the tour. If you go to Siracusa, I strongly recommend this tour:

Have a fun trip.
