My daughter, her 2 babies and I would like to rent a house for a month. Would like to be able to walk to restaurant, markets, shops, have nice outdoor space. Looking at Tuscany, Umbria or other areas. Any ideas, suggestions?
September is a good month with warm days in the 80s and cool nights in the 50s. Not as much rain as later in the fall. If you google "rent a villa in Italy" you will find 100s of companies renting all manner of houses. I have been very impressed by some of these, but I have also emailed some after seeing a house and found they never replied. My favorite way to rent is through www.vrbo.com. That's Vacation Rental by Owner and it is a fabulous resource. My husband and I have used it to rent vacation houses all over the world and never been disappointed. Each owner is responsible for his/her own photos, calendar, comments, price, and communicating with the prospective renter. On the site for each house you will find lots of info about the house, photos, costs, amenities, suitability for children, location, etc. Then you fill out a form to email the owner who contacts you and things so smoothly from there. I have recently rented a villa in Umbria and an apartment in Rome and one in Florence for this fall and was extremely impressed with the properties and how friendly and helpful all the owners were. Good luck!
