September in Florence

Is it necessary to pre-purchase tickets for the museums in Florence for September or is that only necessary during the summer months? We will be there for a week. Will it be time for us to purchase tickets when we first arrive?

I'd go ahead and make reservations early - September is still a very popular time to travel in Italy.

I was in Florence last September around the 20th of the month and it was the most crowded of the cities we visited on our 17 Day Best of Italy Tour. I would strongly recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance.

It would be a shame to travel all the way to Italy only to not be able to see the museums you wanted to see. Best to pre-purchase...Rick's guidebooks tell you which ones are necessary to have reservations for (the Uffizi is the biggie).

st,

As you're going to be there for a week you may be able to get some tickets on short notice, but you'll have to be flexible in terms of date and time. I typically travel in September and I've always found that most places in Italy are still very busy at that time of year. The safer approach would be to buy advance reservations.
