I need to get from Rome to Florence on Saturday September 5 2026 and I understand that there are typically rail and / or air transit strikes in early September. Any knowledge of actual strike dates / advice on how best to get from Rome to Florence (excluding renting a car to drive) with transit strike uncertainty is appreciated.
For fast routes like Rome-Florence, the trains are usually guaranted by Trenitalia and Italo, so there are very low chances that these trains might be impacted. I suggest you check 2-3 days in advance of the departure and could make ammendments if there would be any cancelations. Book the early morning trains there are usually guaranted for sure.

These will help. The list of upcoming strikes, and the second is the list of train numbers guaranteed to run.
Usually strikes happen on Fridays or Mondays, that way the striking workers get a long weekend. Labor Unions schedule them on those days to maximize participation.
