I am intrigued by what I've read in Rick Steve's Italy book about staying in this place. However, the most recent reviews I have found (posted online over the last couple of months) only have TERRIBLE things to say. Anyone have any positive recent experiences? We are looking for humble accommodations, but comfortable and clean. Thanks!

This listing is the bottom of the list in Rick's book, and the list is somewhat in the order of preference, but our researcher did visit again this year and kept it as a cheap, basic option. For 50 euros (now) for a double with bath, I'd be willing to give it a shot. TripAdvisor reviews seemed to give the worst rating to the shared bathrooms.

My husband and I are planning to be in Volterra next month and would like to state at the Seminario Vescovile Sant'Andrea. I sent an email to the email address listed in Rick's book 4 days ago but haven't received a reply. Unfortunately, my Steves Italy book is from 2011. Is there a newer email address? Do you have any other thoughts as to why I haven't received a reply. Thank you!!

Hmmm, I know nothing about this lodging, but in checking I see that the e-mail address listed in the 2014 RS Italy book and that on the local church web site are slightly different, at the end.
RS lists [email protected].
The church lists [email protected].
Maybe that is of some help.
