I need to find some safe long term parking for a new car near Venice -- we will be there for 8 days. Any recommendations?

The Tronchetto parking lot is a multi-story garage with security. Lat year it was 20E/day. It's on the island in Venice.

Have you thought about dropping the car In mestre and then rerenting it when you leave?

Not possible, it is a new Volvo that we are purchasing in Sweden --so its ours for good.

We parked last year at the parking lot across the street from the Mestre train station. The cost was 4,50 euro per day and the train on in to Venice is cheap. As for how safe it is I would say it should be ok but probably not as safe as the more expensive parking lots closer to Venice. Ours was fine when we returned. No evidence that anyone tried to bother it. We did have a small Peugeot so it would not be as high a target for thieves as would your Volvo. You could check out the parking lot when you get there and maybe talk with the attendent concerning security and then make your decision.
