Hello,
I was lucky in that I was able to purchase advance tickets (perhaps because my credit cards are canadian issued)and i chose the self service pick up option..what does this mean? I click on the "further info" and nothing comes up..do I pick them up at the station? Is there a kiosk etc there? They have emailed me confm of these tickets..
Thanks
LIsa
pick them up at the manned teller window at the train station from where you're taking your first train.
You get your tickets from the machines at any station with the self serve machines.
Here is the note on the bottom of the email notification I got from TrenItalia for self service ticket:
Please remember that, having chosen the self service pick up before boarding the train you must pick up your ticket from one of the automatic ticket distributors at the station. Take with you the e-mail that will be sent to you after purchasing: to pick-up your ticket, type in the name, surname and booking code (PNR) indicated. If you need an invoice, you can request one at the ticket desks immediately after printing and picking up the ticket. Here you can find the stations with Self-service points
Thank you very much for the help! Sooo appreciated!
Lisa
I double checked the Trenitalia website, and William is correct. If the self service machine(s) is (are) nonfunctional, seek assistance at the manned teller station.
I've also purchased tickets on the Trenitalia website, but when I click to find the locations of the self service pick up points, nothing comes up. Does anyone know which stations have these? Apparently not all do.
Try this link for stations with ticket machines:

Thanks! That's exactly what I needed.
I have a question. I have a typo mistake on my Surname during my purchase with the trenitalia, for example I am Chan, but I type Cha. The ticket involved is a self-service one.
Should I
1) follow the spelling in TrenItalia and type "Cha" in the self-service machine. WIll the staff check the name on the ticket on the train?
2) type in the correct name Chan in the self-service machine. But does the machine reject?
Also, for some unknown mal-functioning of Trenitalia web site, I don't have a confirmation email. However, I can check the reccord in the order summary in my Trenitalia web site after login. In the summary, I can acquire my PNR. Is it sufficient for me to collect my ticket?
Any other suggestion
Is it sufficient, and don't bother correcting your name. One missing letter will not be a hassle on a domestic train.
