Self Drive Boats Venice and Environs

My wife and I and another couple are contemplating a self-drive boat rental vacation to Venice September 2018. I have researched for months now and there are all sorts of reviews for other areas of Europe. However, I find only sparse mention of doing the Venetian coasting. What I have found is years old.

Is there anyone out there to relate their experiences of boating, live aboard vacation, to the Lagoon? I know that the multinational company Le Boat provides equipment and a newer company Houseboat Holidays offer the services. Need to know about service, condition of equipment, where and how long different itineraries take.

Are there free moorings on the Sile and Brenta? Are there restaurants and provisions within walking from the mooring areas? What should we see and what not? Where are best places to moor in the Lagoon?

I have no personal experience but You could start checking the websites of the boat rental companies listed below:

Just be aware that there are boat traffic restrictions within Venice itself and only licensed residents can enter with motorboats and only at specific times. It’s like a ZTL similar to regular cities.
I presume you can visit the outer areas of the lagoon without too many restrictions, but check. I’m sure the rental companies can provide information on moorings as well.

Roberto, thanks for your input. Was aware of Venice proper restriction. I know both companies have at least one mooring reservation in the Lagoon. I want to enjoy the rivers too. But no info on bank mooring.
