While in Naples we would like to spend 1 or 2 days exploring archeological sites in Baia, Pozzuoli, etc. ….. any tips/info would be greatly appreciated. Looking for a driver/guide or just a driver willing to take us around for 4 or 5 hours so that we can see as much as we can. I realize these places can be reached by combo metro and bus but this takes too much time. Many thanks, Laura
Hi,
We had a custom full-day tour of archeological sites in that area with Marina de Martini 3 years ago. She was very knowledgeable, and with private transportation (Massimo) was able to efficiently get us to sites that would have been difficult with public transportation. My husband is a Roman history enthusiast who has high expectations for guides. He particularly wanted to see the Piscina Mirabilis. Our 24 yr old daughter, her boyfriend and his brother and sister-in-law were also with us, and she was able to corral and engage the less history-minded members of the group as well. This was in October, and we were the only people at most of the sites, including the Flavian Amphitheatre part of the time.
We also had a half-day tour with her of the city, including the Fontanelle Cemetery.

She may remember us, as I had broken my arm in Rome, and my husband is very tall - she called him Kilimanjaro.
If you don't already have it, I recommend the guidebook Napoli Unplugged by Bonnie Alberts,et al.
Thanks for the great tip, Carol! The places you mentioned are ALL on my list! Grazie mille!
