I am an American living in England. We have traveled to many different cities, and often rent a mifi/portable wifi device, which has been very helpful, as wifi service can be spotty, even in hotels and airbnbs. (Our cell phone provider is O2 and data costs become too excessive with 2 adults and 1 teen.)
The devices work well, but the delivery/pick up can be less than convenient in some countries, and the costs are adding up. I was wondering if anyone has tried purchasing an unlocked portable wifi and then bought a SIM card for it in Italy. It is relatively cheap to purchase the device on Amazon UK for 3G (which is fast enough for us), but I am wondering how easy or difficult it might be to set it up when we get to Venice.
