Seeking Advice for Travel From Milan Malpensa Airport to Monterosso in The Cinque Terre

My daughter and I will be arriving at Malpensa airport on Sunday July 16th at 12:55 pm. Is it realistic to get baggage, clear passport control and customs, and take a taxi to Milano Centrale train station in 3 hours? We are hoping to catch a 4:05 pm train from Milano Centrale to Monterosso. Thanks in advance for your responses.

Take the airport train: it will be faster than a cab, less expensive (€ 26 vs € 104) and you won't get stuck in traffic. Also all trains stop in the same area whereas Cabs must park outside Milano Centrale and two levels down the tracks area.

At the airport counter they will sell you a through ticket to Monterosso. The next direct train departs at 18:05 on Sundays.

Assuming a timely flight arrival, you should have time to make it. Use the restroom on the plane before landing so you do not have to make any diversion on your trip through the airport.

Doubt I would buy 'use it or lose it' train tickets in advance..

The Malpensa express leaves every 30 minutes ( 25 and 55 past the hour) and takes "~50 minutes". So if your timing in such that you just miss a train you do have some extra time to wait for the next one.

The Trenitalia app is handy for tickets after retrieving your luggage, Malpensa Aeroporto to Monterosso at 14:43 to catch the direct train at 16:05
Do not consider taking a taxi to Milano Centrale. Cost used to be 90E and has gone up. Take the train on one ticket.

Hello -
Wondering how it all worked out?
I too am curious as to how much time it takes by the time you're ready to jump on the train at Milano Centrale?
