Seeking accommodation ‘gem’ in Cinque Terre

My husband and I, mid-60’s, Canadian, will be spending 3 nights in Cinque Terre in mid-September. I am looking for a recommendation on an accommodation gem you found during a recent visit. I had originally thought I’d like to stay in Vernazzo but am flexible in this. We are looking for clean, comfortable, safe, sea-view if possible, some outside sitting space desireable (for an evening glass of wine); not noisy, and affordable ($100 or so/night). We intend to hike between the five main villages. Need to have some restaurants nearby. Ideas?

At the risk of repeating myself..we stayed here and really loved it. not sure about pricing, but it has all the other things you're looking for. Villa Steno

Thank you. Looks perfect! They apparently have a sister establishment at the waterfront. I am on it.

pam,

I would also highly recommend Villa Steno in Monterosso or Hotel Pasquale (the "sister property"). Both are located in the "old town" section of Monterosso and both are "gems". However, you'll need to book early!

One point to clarify. If you're planning to hike the popular Sentiero Azzurro trails, you'll only be able to hike the Monterosso > Vernazza > Corniglia sections. The Corniglia > Manarola > Riomaggiore segments have been closed for several years, and will remain closed this year. There is an extensive network of other trails, but those go further up in the hills and are a more robust hike. I'm also in my mid-60's and those would probably be a bit much for me.

Thank you for the response. And for the info on trail closures. Both very useful!

I'll throw in La Spiaggia in Monterosso as well, although I think $100 a night is going to be a stretch for a sea-view room (which I would definitely book). It's very popular so you may be too late but give it a look? They close during the winter so it may take a few days to get a response:

Cinque Terre card, which you would need to hike Monterosso>Vernazza>Corniglia on the SVA2/Sentiero Azzurro route, if those segments are open during your visit.
