Hello all, Thank you so much for being so helpful. I am taking a train from Siena to Pisa. I have a flight on easy jet that leaves at 2:20 pm. I want to have a little time to see the tower. Questions. 1. Should I have take the train to Pisa Central or the airport. I will need to store bags.
2. How much time should I allow for check in on easy jet. Trying to figure out what time to get to pisa. Thank you!
Tiffany, not sure about checking in with EasyJet but the Pisa Centrale train station has a staffed deposito bagagli (left luggage) facility. Very easy to store luggage there. As for viewing the tower, it's a 25-minute walk in and a 25-minute walk out from the train station. To save time, it's best to take a taxi. A bit more money but much faster.
I would ask Easy Jet how early they allow checking in. If 4 hours prior, you could take the train to the airport, check in the bags 4 hours ahead, then walk out of the airport and take a taxi to the tower. The airport is only one mile from the station, so the taxi cab maybe wouldn't be much more expensive. How long to stay at the tower is up to you. It also depends on whether you want to climb up or if you want to see the baptistry and the duomo as well. In any case both the Pisa Central station and the airporrt have a Deposito Bagagli.
Thank you would it be better for me to leave luggage at the central one or airport one to take a taxi.
I'd never check in for Easy Jet (even if you have checked in online as I am sure you will unless you have very deep pockets) with less than 2 hours. I hope you have arranged for all the checked baggage when you bought your tickets (unless you have very deep pockets), and that you understand that on EasyJet you are only allowed one item of carry on baggage - no handbag or computer bag, everything must go inside that one bag - and you will need time for security and checking those bags. It will take 2 hours to Pisa Centrale from Siena by train. If you join the train in Pisa at 8:18 you should be, after a change in Florence, at Pisa Centrale by 10:10 if everything is on time.
Thank you I am not going until October sorry if that was confusing :)
Checking bags at the train station is really easy. We were just there in June and it really was fast. We took a bus from the train station to the tower and that was maybe 10-15 minutes. We stayed maybe 45-60 minutes walking around and taking pictures and then back to the train station, got our bags and back on another train. The whole round trip was maybe two hours so you could easily see the tower in the morning and make it to your flight. Have fun!!
Thanks all for the timeframe. The train stops at Pisa central and the airport. Which is closer to the tower ? I am trying to determine which stop to get off on.
And if the timing doesn't work out for you, we had a lovely view of the leaning tower as the plane took off from the airport. In fact, it was so tacky (all kinds of souvenir stands) around the tower, we thought it was our BEST view of the tower.
