We're off to Sorrento and don't want to miss a climb up Vesuvius. I found (and lost) a website on an outfit that picks you up at the Herculaneum ruins, takes you close to the top, and waits for you. Can anyone remind me who this was, or add their own experiences?

Much easier and more reliable is this scheduled bus service from the Pompeii ruins. There are stories of having to wait until the bus from Ercolano fills up before it sets off and you have to return with the same driver.
