We’re going to driving from Trapani to Palermo in early Sept and want to stop in Monreale to see the Duomo. Two questions: 1) I know it’s ideal to get to the church early to avoid crowds but that may not be feasible. Is the concern that the interior is crowded later in the day or that lines to enter are long? What times would you suggest going or avoiding if we can’t get there when they open? In case it matters, we will be there on a Thursday.
2) We are also concerned about the need to leave our luggage in the car while in the Duomo. Does anyone know of places to park that are supervised and more secure?
