Secret Itineraries, Torre dell'Orologio, Correr Museum - Which to see?

With our limited time in Venice and the timing of the various tours, we will likely be able to do only 2/3 of these. We will be doing the Doge by ourselves regardless if we do the SI. It seems like people love the SI and the Torre. Is the Correr essential? We will seeing the Accademia and or Peggy G (and possibly the costume museum) the day before and will of course be seeing the Accademia and Uffizi in Florence and Borghese in Rome. I figure we will be getting our museum fill one way or the other during this trip and don't necessarily need to see EVERY museum.

Any input appreciated!

The Secret Itineraries tour is great and makes a nice change to viewing yet another 'Madonna with Child' (I am only half joking). Make sure you prebook - bookings are currently being taken til the end of March. The official website is: http://palazzoducale.visitmuve.it/en/pianifica-la-tua-visita/secretitineraries/ and this will send you to Vivaticket to book. You do need to register to complete your booking on Vivaticket - it will not let you select ticket quantities until you complete registration. Alternatively, the official website provides a phone number that you can book through.

The Torre, I have been up once and wasn't overly impressed. You will need to book if you decide to do it, once again through vivaticket: http://torreorologio.visitmuve.it/en/home/http://torreorologio.visitmuve.it/en/home/

I have not been to the Correr Museum.

Another option, if you want to do something unique and support a Venetian tradition, is to take a rowing class (i am not joking!) See: www.rowvenice.com

Well , you can't see every museum everywhere , any where - But . if you can . the Correr is well worth the time . First , by buying the combination ticket there ( as per Rick ) you may very well avoid a line for the Doge's Palace . The Correr was a fascinating place for us and provided a connective view to Austrian rule of this part of Italy in the last years of the nineteenth century . Go early , start there , and then on to The Doges Palace .After a bite and coffee , a wander in St Marks , by later in the afternoon . you might find ( as we did ) that you have St Marks Basilica pretty much to yourselves . You don't need a tour .

Steven, you can only do the SI on a tour. It gives you access to areas you cannot see on a normal admission ticket to the Doges Palace.

I just returned from Venice two days ago. I did the Secret Itineraries tour of the Doges Palace, and thought it was both overrated and overpriced. They try to make it tintillating by telling you stories of prisoners, but there are many better ways to spend your time and money in Venice. I also bought a combined museum ticket which included the Doges Palace (w/o the Secret Itineraries) and the Correr Museum. Both very worthwhile. The Correr Museum is currently running Drawings of Venice exhibition, but I don't know for how long.
