Seceda and Alpe di Siusi cable car & biking questions

Hello, my family and 2 kids (10 & 12) will be staying in Ortisei first week in June. One of the mornings, we intend to walk to the Seceda cable car for around 8-9am or so to head up. Or I guess as early as allowed to try and beat the crowds. As this will be a weekday morning, do we need to pre-book online in advance or could we just walk up and head up? We are planning to do the Rifugio Firenze loop.

For Alpe di Siusi, we really want to rent E-bikes and are looking at Sports Hans near the cable car and then bringing them up. Does anyone have any experience with biking up there? There looks to be a really great looking hut trail. I figure it will be a little bit more of a fee to take them but I can't find anywhere to rent up there. Any need to pre-book this as well? Thanks!

It is my understanding that you can only take the Seceda cable car this summer with a reserved timed-ticket. I purchased mine for my visit in July at seceda.it/en/tickets.

Thank you Beth! I'm trying to purchase and it won't let me go further after selecting a time slot. No trouble completing yours?

I emailed the operator and they are still figuring things out for summer. I read that they will be reserving 30% of the time slots for walkups. If you’re having trouble purchasing, I suggest you email them. They’re very responsive.

After two attempts, I was able to make the purchase. I know others have had difficulty making the purchase as well.

Yes I see they did maintenance on the website and the purchase can now be made. Appreciate the help Beth!

We did the ebikes with kids up there a few summers ago. It was very easy to rent the bikes at the base of the cable car and take them up to the top. You definitely do want the e-bikes - hills were quite steep in many spots. Super fun and some nice spots to stop for lunch with playgrounds.

Impress upon your kids the importance of having their helmets in right. DD15 took a serious tumble over the handlebars when she came around a steep corner too tight and a car was coming up.

Thanks so much! It looks like the Sport Hans shop is at top of the car in Compatsch…do you remember the shop you used and did you reserve? Great to know you enjoyed! It looks amazing! I just hope everything is open and we’re able to fully experience everything first week of June.
