I'm travelling with a friend on Frecciarossa 9434 Florence to Venice. The seating chart online does not show enough: are seats 17D & 18D directly across or next to each other, I hope?
[edited] They are near each other, but probably back to back, both window seats.
I wouldn't worry about it. We had assigned seats on a Frecca that had my husband sitting behind me. A very nice Italian man who spoke no English but understood our dilemma offered to switch seats so my husband could sit with me. It was a lot of hand motioning, but we were able to say Grazie over and over. When the conductor came to examine our tickets, the man explained to him what had transpired and it was A-Ok with him as well. Gotta love those Italians!!
Glad to know of Barb's pleasant experience, but I once had an opposite experience that resulted in the conductor yelling at me for being in the wrong seat. The person who had agreed to swap seats with me sat there like he was oblivious to the whole situation.
I'll also mention that as someone who gets terrible motion sickness if I have to ride facing backwards, the seat diagrams are extremely important to me!
I really wouldn't want back to back, are you sure they are? Because, as I'm travelling with a friend and booked them together, I'd hope we're either face-to-face or side-by-side!
Well looking at a seating chart it appears the seat ID system is like on airplanes. "D" seats are not side by side
If you book a base ("coach") fare it appears they are facing seats.
If you booked a better ( "biz") class then they are arranged so that 17D is in front of 18D.
