We will be in Italy and Switzerland May '24 for 4 wks. Looking for ways to find lodging other than conventional Air B&B, Booking.com, etc. Hoping there are other sources that can be utilized. Thanks in advance for any recommendations.
Many lodging recommendations in the Rick Steves guidebooks - they have supposedly been vetted by RS..
Also the websites for the official tourism agencies for the towns or regions you're interested in. There are several sites that specialize in agriturismo in Italy if that's of interest.
We had great success, staying at monasteries in Florence and Sorrento. Check monasterystays.com for different locations all throughout Italy. The places we stayed, were quiet, clean, spacious, and had excellent locations.
Boston,
I would also suggest checking the newest versions of the Rick Steves Italy and RS Switzerland guide books. The accommodations listed there have all been checked by Rick or a member of his staff. I usually stay in places listed in the guidebooks, and have never been disappointed.
