Scuola Grande di San Rocco or Ca' Rezzonico?

Wife and I plan to visit some museums in Venice on Saturday, June 10. If it were feasible time-wise, I'd see both of the above plus the Accademia, but DW is probably not going to be up for 3 museums in one day. So, does anyone have a clear preference for one over the other of those above? Thanks, Joel

We enjoyed di San Rocco. But, if you want to mix it up a bit why not Academia and Peggy Guggenheim ? That way you get a boatload of classics then a look at a real fine modern collection. If you visit the Guggenheim, buy tickets in advance, it's fairly small.

I haven't been to Ca'Rezzonico but this is how we've managed to spend some quality time at the Scuola San Rocco every time we've been in Venice. We book tickets to an evening Vivaldi Four Seasons concert at the Scuola. You get to sit in the main room among the beautifully carved walls during the concert. During the long intermission they give you tray type mirrors so you can go upstairs and see the Tintoretto paintings and especially using the mirrors, the ceiling. This is a great evenings entertainment.

Thanks for the suggestions. Alan, we were going to visit the Guggenheim anyway, so it makes sense to do it on the same day as the Accademia; that should be a nice change-up as you say. Thanks also for the head's up about the tickets.

And the Scuola idea sounds great! We have never attended a concert in Europe, mostly for fear of being underdressed (the chief issue with packing extremely light). Mona, would I be out of place with just decent-looking pants and a nice long sleeve shirt, without a jacket? Vivaldi in Venice sounds out of this world.

Joel, long pants and a decent shirt sound fine. A lot of tourists attend the evening concerts so dress is decent but not dressed up. The last time we attended a concert there we bought tickets from our hotel. There will be hawkers in costume on the street for Vivaldi concerts in various churches but we only attend the concert at the Scuola in order to spend some time with the artwork as well as hear Le Quattro Stagioni.
