Scrovengi Chapel

So we are planning on visiting the Scrovengi Chapel in Padua in just over a week. It is still not possible to buy tickets online for October. Supposedly you can call starting today but I didn't have much luck with that. If I am unable to get tickets before leaving on Saturday will my hotel in Venice get reservations for me? We are not staying overnight in Padua.

What we did in May of last year was that we just showed up in Padua without reservations. There's a TI in the train station and we went up to it and told her we wanted reservations to the Scrovegni Chapel for the two of us. She checked to see what times were available and we picked the one that worked best for us. One tip - go ahead and buy your return train ticket when you ARRIVE in Padua; otherwise you might get stuck (like we did) in the afternoon rush hour of students buying tickets.

We already have our train tickets. We're not going back to Venice but on to Milan. Anyone else have experience with getting Scrovengi Chapel tickets at the TI. Both the website and Rick Steves say you can't get same day reservations.

You can't get same day reservations on your own, but you can get them through the TI. And BTW, it's Scrovegni. Pronounced skroh-VEN-yee.

While you wait for your appointment time at the Chapel, check out the Chiesa degli Eremitani next door (badly damaged during WWII but hsa some beautiful surviving Renaissance frescoes).

I just called +39 049 2010020 and after a prerecorded message was connected with an English speaking agent. I reserved tickets for Oct 2 (Next Tuesday) without a problem. Were you calling the right number?

Yes. I definitely got the Chapel. The message kept repeating over and over and finally hung up. I have to leave for work right now but I'll try again tomorrow.

And don't despair if youd don't get them. You can always use what we did as a backup plan.

Don't forget the time difference. If they are open, say, from 10 to 5 Italian time that will be 7 hours earlier so you need to call them between 3 am and 10 am Salt Lake time. Or maybe you have already done that. I can say that the phone call does work.
