schedule for buses, trains, subway

I will be in staying about 30 minutes outside Rome and will have acess to train to termini. Termini will be my source to get a train, bus, subway around Rome and surrounding areas - example: Orvieto. Am I am able to get printed schedules at termini or tobacco shop so I can make up a schedule once I get to Rome? Thanks for any help.

Just log on to trenitalia.com, click the British flag for English and you can see all the schedules for all trains. As for local transit - bus, subway, - they run with enough frequency that I don't worry about a schedule. You may wait fifteen or twenty minutes but that is not a big deal. The TI in Termini will have a map of the bus and subway routes. I think that answers your question.

Way back when, I could at least get a monthly train timetable from a newsstand, but I think they only publish the 6-month schedule now (looks like a small phone book and is expensive, if you can even find one). Use the online schedule as Frank suggested. Or take a photo of the yellow departure schedule posted at the station, but keep in mind that track numbers can change whimsically and the weekday-holiday schedules can be a chore to figure out. The trenitalia.com site is best.

As for buses, you can get a map of Rome at a newsstand that has a booklet of bus/metro schedules and the stops for every bus/metro number, but some of this information can change, too. The ATAC website should have the most up-to-date info.
