We are traveling from Konstance, Germany to Florence, Italy by train in July. We heard that the Bernina route is amazing (from the Rick Steves book!) But would we have time to do that and also some hiking and stops in small towns? We only have two days. Or should we take the train through Lucerne? Also, how do we make sure we take the scenic route and not the one that travels through tunnels.
Go to www.sbb.ch/en Put in Konstanz to Milano Centrale and add in via Chur and Tirano. You will see the scenic route over the Bernina Pass. Suggest stopping in Pontresina for hiking. Then continue to Milano Centrale and Florence.
