Scenic places suggestion in first week of April

Hello, we have a work conference in Milan in early April. I get 3 days before conference and 2 days after conference to explore. Dont mind flying to save time. Tell me what are the most scenic places that are not super cold (no dolomites, thanks!) that I can enjoy for those 5 days. Have been to Milan before and the city didnt impress me even the first time I was there. So happy to spend all 5 days outside of Milan.

Some places I am thinking - 1. At the coast and water - Amalfi coast, Cinque Terrre or whatever
2. hilltowns and rural in-land landscapes - maybe Tuscany??

What would you recommend?

Can't go wrong with the Amalfi Coast, plus in April it will not be the high season yet- perfect for visiting!

If you are also considering other coastal areas- why not a plane ride to the Croatian coast, like Split? I absolutely feel in love with this area! Different culture, relaxing, lots of sunshine, and cheap!

Exactly what do "3 days" and "2 days" mean in terms of time? When is your flight due to arrive in Milan? Are you flying into Malpensa? When do you have to be back in Milan for your work commitments? And on the other end of the assignment: When are you free of work responsibilities? When do you fly out of Milan, and is it from Malpensa?

The Italian lakes would be one choice - easy from Milan. I wouldn't go as far as Amalfi coast, Cinque Terre or Tuscany. There are many wonderful places along the coast north of Cinque Terre: Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure, Camogli, etc. If you want an inland place, then Bergamo (stay in the upper town).

Portofino was where The Enchanted April was filmed. It is on my bucket list to visit. I understand it is pricey, so some nearby places that Janet lists might be equally lovely. If you want to see the beauty ahead of time, try to get the movie.
