We have confirmation for a 1:30 pm scavi tour at Vatican on a Thursday this May.
A few questions: 1. What would be best time to schedule tours of Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel with this time Scavi tour? 2. What is difference between guided tour with exclusive guide and guided tours for individuals who want to join a guided group tour. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?action=booking&codiceLivelloVisita=13&step=1 http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?action=booking&codiceLivelloVisita=4&step=1 3. Does anyone know if it would be better to do a night tour at the Vatican museums and Sistine chapel? Offered on some Fridays. Many thanks.
The last scheduled tour offered by the Vatican for the museums starts at 2pm so you wouldn't be able to take that one. You could do a morning tour and then do the scavi tour after that. Other than that you would need to book a tour with a private company. The difference in the two tours is one is a private tour for just you and your party and the other is the regular group tour. The private tour is a lot more expensive but the group is the size you want it to be. The other tour usually has about 20 people on it during high season. You all wear headsets so you can hear the guide. These are good tours which I've taken a few times. The night tours are not as crowded but the trade off is that not all of the rooms are open. You'll need to check to see if there are rooms you really want to see that won't be available for Friday nights. You can find that information on the Vatican website. Donna
