We requested a spot on the Scavi Tour and a few days later recieved a kind notice of rejection. It was from the official web site. The following day I received an email from a private individual telling me there was now a spot for us and to confirm the reservation by reponding with another email address. He indicated my email would not work from Scavi and wants us to send a new email address. He said "Do not respond to my email as it is my personal email address"! The reservation number was indeed correct. I plan to forward this atypical email to the scavi office and see if we really can now proceed with the tour. Are we being scammed? Could this be trouble or a blessing?
Wow! That one sounds fishy to me. I say trust your gut. I think forwarding the email to the Scavi office is a good idea.
Definitely fishy. You're doing the right thing.
Personally, I would call Scavi before moving forward.
These are the two addresses that I did correspondence with when booking Scavi Tour: [email protected]
[email protected]
Thanks everyone. As much as we would like to take that tour, we shall stick with the official website communications and play it safe. Funny tho, this "Paulo" person gave us some factual info......Hmm!
While it sounds odd, why do you think you are being scammed? Did they ask for money or credit card details or other sensitive personal information?
I would concur that it doesn't sound like a scam to me.
BIG NEWS!!! It seems that we indeed received a second chance to tour the Scavi! After forwarding the questionable "personal" email, AND also sending a thank you to "Paulo" for his attentiveness in suggesting we send an alternative email address to the official Scavi site (which we DID), our invitation to confirm our spot just arrived in our last ditch email location! How about that?
Next on the list is to confirm and follow through. Just as important, to notify them about our Scavi "angel"! This is pretty amazing! If anyone else has had a similar experience, I'd love to hear about it!
