Scavi Tour Dec 2017 Dates / Ticket Info

We will be traveling to Rome, as first timers, Dec 23, 2017 through Jan 1, 2018.

I have already sent the email request for tickets to the Scavi Tour and requested dates of Tuesday, December 26 through Sunday, December 31 . I have been unable to locate the 2017 dates that the tour is offered ... only have found the dates from this past Dec 2016.

Can anyone speculate what dates it may be offered? I didn't request Dec 23 because that is the day we arrive. I'm wondering if our dates might be too limiting due to holiday closures?

Also, does anyone know when I should expect to hear back from them on my request?

BTW, I have run into this same situation when trying to book other tours at the end of this year, firm dates are not posted yet.

They do the tour most every day except Sundays and holidays. There really isn't a schedule that you can check.

You shouldn't request dates too far out as they tend to get lost. 4-5 months out is fine.

Most other sites don't book more than 60 days in advance. Right now, you're trying to book too soon.

Just thought I would respond to my own question:

Wow, that was fast !! The ticket office responded to my request overnight and sent me a link to confirm/pay for the tickets.
They confirmed us for Thursday, Dec 28, it seems they might be closed for more than just the holy day (the 25th).
They provided a reference number and a receipt number, as well as, specific instructions for the day of the tour.

In hindsight, it was much easier and more streamlined than I had expected.
Now, to nail down the Christmas Eve Mass tickets for St Peter's Basilica.

I would recommend finding the entrance for your tour early and do not leave the area. We almost missed our tour because we located the entrance....facing St. Peter's to the left...think 9 o'clock on a clock face. You will go through a security screening at that point. We found the entrance and then walked for about 10 minutes returning 15 minutes before our entrance time and a huge crowd had arrived for other "special" tours as well. We barely made our tour with a lot of anxiety and polite assertiveness!
