Has anyone taken the Scavi tour? Is it worth investigating?

While you're waiting for fresh responses, you might try typing "Scavi Vatican" in the search box in the upper right corner of this screen. It will bring up lots of past discussions on this, including some pearls of wisdom that may not be included in newer responses you receive.

Yes! Yes! ....

I had the pleasure of spending time in Rome last December!
The day of our Scavi RSVP, My daughter and I were able to visit the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and Museums in the morning with ease.
Our Scavi Tour reservation was at 1:30 pm.

This is a very popular site and the Vatican only allows a limited number of people.
The RSVP was made via Email @ [email protected]

In your request, be sure to enclose the names of guests, date(s) and time, ie: morning/ afternoon tour. They will send Email confirmation with information to secure your request.

The visit to the "Scavi", I feel made the Vatican experience "full circle". I would highly recommend it.

All the Best to you!
Carly

Hi Diane,

I did take a tour a couple of years back and liked it very much. I felt it was worth it.

If you have kids, bear in mind that there is a strict minimum age (15, I think) for the Scavi Tour.

I've taken a variety of people through the scavi, ranging from teenages (over 15) to my parents who are in their 60s and 70s. Without hesitation they have all said that this is one of their favorite parts of their visit to Rome.

We booked the Scavi Tour in February for our trip in June and thought it was the highlight of our trip! This tour explains the history of the church and takes you on a walk below to see cemetaries of the first Christians. It's an amazing history and I highly recommend it!
