SCAVI tour

Just received my email for reservations. Soooooo excited. We are 3 couples going to Rome in February. Am going to send my payment as soon as I finish this post. I wanted to thank everyone for their advice, never would have known about this tour if not for this forum. A special thank you to Donna for her advice. I had first emailed in May and she explained why I should be patient until October. So glad I "listened". Now I will book my Borghese, Colosseum, Pristine/Sistine, Pompeii tours.

So you booked it 9 months in advance - good to know. I'll have to request reservations as soon as we book our airline tickets in November for travel next October. :)

Sorry, another question. What time did they reserve for you?

We received a 9 am tour time. You have 10 days to decide. Figure we will do dome also that day then walk to Trastvere for the afternoon. We will book walks of Italy pristine sister tour for another day

We plan on doing the Sistine Pristine Tour as well. I think it's a wise choice to avoid the most crowds. We also plan on taking the Trastevere Food Tour. Here's the link in case you are interested.

Did you request your time and give them a few option for days? I'm just trying to figure this whole thing out. I would like to request times, but I don't want to be disrespectful if we shouldn't do that.

I didn't request times but did put in dates. I put in 2/20 - 2/25 (Monday to Friday). I didn't put times because I had no idea how often they run. They said it is approx 1 1/2 hours. if you are only in Rome for a short time, use those dates. I guess you could request morning or afternoon. They will either honor it or not, but as my mom would say, you won't get if you don't ask. Donna told me they put the requests in month order and then start fulfilling them. They move on to another month when they have finished the requests for the previous month. She had told me to check around Oct. she was only 2 weeks off.

So glad you were able to get on a tour. It's such an interesting tour. Be sure to dress properly and be there at least 20 minutes early.

Pilgrim, there is no need to put in your request 9 months early. They only book about 3 months out so 4 months prior is fine. There are only two people working in the office and they book reservations by month. If you request too far in advance or multiple times it makes confusion and more work for the two employees.

Thank you again Donna for all the advice.

Pilgrim - since you are going in October 2017, I will be sure to give you details of the tour and any other tips I pick up.

Barbara, thank you so much. I really appreciate all tips you could provide.

Donna, thank you for letting us know we can wait 3-4 months before our trip to request the reservation. I'll also search in this forum for your Scavi topic for more info.
