We will be visiting Rome May, 2026.
Does any know or think it is too early to request tickets now? We are will be 8 adults so I know we need some lead time but I was going to send in the request in September. I thought we shouldn’t send in the request too early. It is an entire year away.
Of course, I can’t book anything else till we have this booked.
Any thoughts?
Loved that tour!! Did it about 5 years ago. As I recall I first applied with 2 dates for the tour about 6 months in advance. Two or three months later they had not replied so I went through the process again & noted the prior date I had already applied. Around two weeks later they responded with one of my 2 dates for the tour.
It’s a bit frustrating that no recommendation is given for just how early to apply. Trip advisor had a thread on this about a year ago. It would probably be helpful for you to read. Seems they don’t normally give out reservations until 3 or 4 months before the tour date.
I’ve been reading some recent threads and people applied around November/December for the following May/June. I had put it in my calendar to apply around October.
I did notice that it is more prominently advertised on St Peter’s website whereas years ago (we went in 2017) if you didn’t know about it the application was hard to find. That is one reason I might apply a little earlier.
Good luck Barbara. The tour is really worth the hassle.
I applied for Scavi tickets about 6 weeks before my trip and never heard back.
