Does anyone know where to find the correct hours for the Holy Steps for May - July? I've checked a few sites, but can't find any consistent information on when it is open in the afternoon. Also, is anyone allowed to climb the steps?
Hi, Kate. I visited Rome this past April 8th to 14th. The church where the Holy Stairs (Scala Santa) are kept is open from 9am to 12pm and 3pm to 6pm. And anyone is allowed to climb the stairs as long as you do so on your KNEES. If you want to recite the prayers while you climb the stairs, you can buy the booklet at the information booth just inside the front door for 2 Euros. Depending upon how crowded it is, the whole process takes between 10 and 20 minutes. Climbing the Scala Santa is one of my more interesting memories of Rome. Hope this response helps! ~Joseph~
