I'm planning to take a cruise out of Savona. I assume I should fly from the us to Milan and take a train to Savona? What other sites are around Savona before I head back to Milan? Can they be reached by train? Any info about the area and the cruises from there would be appreciated. Thanks. Jim

I was stuck in Savona one day and night due to a rail strike. The town itself is ok, but I don't think there is much in that area to visit. Nice, France isn't more than an hour or two away by train and Genoa is down the line. You could take a train to the Cinque Terre and leave for Milan from there.
