Anyone been there recently and is it worth going? Also, any recommendations re where to stay the night? Looks like it is near Orbetello but can't find how far it is from there or how to get there. Train to Orbetello and then bus to Saturnia? Thanks.
I'd never heard of any of this but I wanted to learn about it. So I asked The Google. GMaps plots exactly where Saturnia is in relation to Obertello and everywhere else. The Google also lists local spas' web sites with "how to get here" pages. I think that all of the above might be helpful to you pending responses here from folks who actually have been to one of these spas.
I have been there. I don't know that I would stay somewhere nearby just to go there. It's a pretty small place and it's just good to visit while you're driving in the area. But it is unique and shockingly it is free. It can get very crowded but I got lucky when I visited in June (maybe avoid the weekend).
This is one of the places I want to visit on my up-coming trip to Italy. In looking at the map, I think it might be within an hour's trip from Rome. We will have a car so it will be easier to drive there. We will be visiting my husband's cousin in Rome and I told her that I wanted to visit a thermal spa. I hope this will be it. It looks very interesting. I have read there are two different places to visit in Saturnia. I like the look of the natural spring pools. Does anyone have anymore information about Saturnia? Cost, etc.? Thanks for the warning about crowds.
