Sardinia Weekend

We will be coming from Germany and plan to spend a long weekend in Sardinia in September. We plan to fly, where would be the best place to go for first timers, any good tips on hotels? I would love to stay longer but we can't this time around but wanted to at least see it.

Wow! And I thought that anything less than a week in Sardinia was kind of a waste!
Anyhow make the best with the time available.
Fly to Olbia (OLB), rent a car, and find a place on the Costa Smeralda.
Any place between Pittulongu and Santa Tesesa di Gallura is good and within about one hour drive from the Olbia airport.
If you stay close enough to Palau, Cannigione, or Santa Teresa, they have boat tours to the Maddalena Archipelago, which, in my opinion, is a must (weather and wind permitting). In summer they have boat tours from many locations, but in September it is already lower season, therefore the towns aforementioned are more likely to still run boat excursions. Palau will definitely have them as it is the main ferry hub to the archipelago. Now, I’m not saying you should necessarily stay in town, since you will have a car. But you will need to drive to those towns to catch a tour.
If you are not willing to rent a car, don’t bother with visiting Sardinia.

I totally agree with Roberto’s recommendations. When I visited the area I stayed at the Agriturismo Ca La Somara. Great place, reasonable rates, convenient for touring the area. I got a better rate through Booking.com than going directly to their website - but check both! Be certain of your arrival time because the entry gate isn’t always manned. They post the hours on the gate!
