We're thinking of traveling to Sardinia--are there any small beach towns where there are sandy beaches and hotels that have beach access and are in walkable distance to the town center?

There are a lot of options- two places we liked for beaches was Santa Teresa di Gallura at the northern end of the island and Alghero in the west. Alghero is a bit of a bigger town with a very charming old town. Both have easy beach access. Santa Teresa is also the place to get a boat to the Maddalena Islands, which have some of the nicest beaches in Sardinia (you could also look at staying there).
